The BEST ‘Annabelle’ Yet! A Well-Wanted Installment
I have been an enormous fan of The Conjuring Universe ever since it birthed in 2013 with James Wan’s very first masterpiece. Three years later he gave us The Conjuring 2, which in my view was just as great – if not higher – than the primary! Other than The Conjuring movies, the sequence expanded into a “universe” with various spin-offs. First there was Annabelle (2014), which was first rate but not nice, then Annabelle Creation (2017) which was EXCELLENT, then there was The Nun (2018) which was pretty okay, but might’ve been better. Now for Annabelle Comes Home. Every part about this latest installment is good (the plot, setting, ambiance, actors, characters, course, and the artistic, non-repetitive scares). The idea of Annabelle the doll unleashing evil in The Warrens’ artifact room is a superb concept, and the film did a beautiful job delivering that concept. I personally visited The Warrens Occult Museum just a few years ago and I assumed to myself, “What if all these creepy artifacts came to life one night time?” It was a notion at the back of my head. I never dreamt it would flip into real movie! Anyway, I must say – this film had me on the sting of my seat. Not solely was it suspenseful, creepy, eerie, dark, and twisted; it launched me and the franchise to new, sinister demons! The Bride demon scared me the most. She reminded me of Valak from The Nun, however in a wedding dress. Gary Dauberman really did an excellent job for his directorial debut and he did an excellent job with the “leap scare” restraints. He added a number of rigidity and build up when it came to the scary parts. He did not resort to low cost, uninspired bounce scares nor did he need to depend on them to make this movie efficient! I additionally loved the appearance of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, which was the “cherry on the top” of an ideal horror film. Even when their appearances have been restricted, their characters are nonetheless as strong as ever and their chemistry continues to shine. Overall, I truly loved Annabelle Comes Home and I feel it is THE BEST installment in the ‘Annabelle’ trilogy. The appearing was great, the setting and environment was good, the characters had been very likable, the scares were very unique and artistic, it had its unhappy and emotional moments, the assorted demons were absolutely creepy and had their own traits, and it was stuffed with suspense and dread. I especially love how they dedicated the film to Lorraine Warren throughout the end credit, who sadly handed away again in April. It’s a true disgrace she didn’t get to see this fascinating installment in a movie collection that would not exist if it hadn’t been for her and Ed. Annabelle Comes Home was a well-needed installment in The Conjuring Universe and I highly suggest it. It is very different from the others. I give it a 10/10 and five stars!
