The BEST ‘Annabelle’ Yet! A Nicely-Wanted Installment
I have been a big fan of The Conjuring Universe ever since it birthed in 2013 with James Wan’s very first masterpiece. Three years later he gave us The Conjuring 2, which for my part was just as nice – if not higher – than the first! Other than The Conjuring films, the collection expanded into a “universe” with various spin-offs. First there was Annabelle (2014), which was respectable however not nice, then Annabelle Creation (2017) which was EXCELLENT, then there was The Nun (2018) which was pretty okay, however could’ve been better. Now for Annabelle Comes Home. All the pieces about this newest installment is good (the plot, setting, atmosphere, actors, characters, course, and the inventive, non-repetitive scares). The thought of Annabelle the doll unleashing evil in The Warrens’ artifact room is an excellent concept, and the film did an exquisite job delivering that concept. I personally visited The Warrens Occult Museum a few years ago and I believed to myself, “What if all these creepy artifacts came to life one night?” It was a notion behind my head. I by no means dreamt it might flip into actual film! Anyway, I have to say – this movie had me on the edge of my seat. Not solely was it suspenseful, creepy, eerie, darkish, and twisted; it launched me and the franchise to new, sinister demons! The Bride demon scared me the most. She reminded me of Valak from The Nun, however in a wedding dress. Gary Dauberman actually did an excellent job for his directorial debut and he did an incredible job with the “soar scare” restraints. He added a number of rigidity and build up when it got here to the scary parts. He didn’t resort to low cost, uninspired bounce scares nor did he need to depend on them to make this film efficient! I also cherished the appearance of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, which was the “cherry on the top” of an excellent horror film. Even when their appearances have been limited, their characters are nonetheless as strong as ever and their chemistry continues to shine. General, I really enjoyed Annabelle Comes House and I believe it is THE BEST installment in the ‘Annabelle’ trilogy. The performing was great, the setting and atmosphere was good, the characters have been very likable, the scares have been very unique and artistic, it had its sad and emotional moments, the various demons had been completely creepy and had their own traits, and it was full of suspense and dread. I especially love how they devoted the movie to Lorraine Warren during the end credits, who sadly passed away again in April. It’s a true disgrace she did not get to see this fascinating installment in a movie collection that would not exist if it hadn’t been for her and Ed. Annabelle Comes House was a nicely-wanted installment in The Conjuring Universe and I extremely recommend it. It is very different from the others. I give it a ten/10 and five stars!
