The BEST ‘Annabelle’ But! A Properly-Wanted Installment
I have been an enormous fan of The Conjuring Universe ever since it birthed in 2013 with James Wan’s very first masterpiece. Three years later he gave us The Conjuring 2, which in my view was simply as nice – if not higher – than the first! Except for The Conjuring movies, the series expanded into a “universe” with numerous spin-offs. First there was Annabelle (2014), which was respectable but not nice, then Annabelle Creation (2017) which was EXCELLENT, then there was The Nun (2018) which was fairly okay, however may’ve been better. Now for Annabelle Comes Home. Every little thing about this newest installment is sensible (the plot, setting, ambiance, actors, characters, route, and the creative, non-repetitive scares). The concept of Annabelle the doll unleashing evil in The Warrens’ artifact room is an excellent concept, and the film did a wonderful job delivering that concept. I personally visited The Warrens Occult Museum a number of years in the past and I thought to myself, “What if all these creepy artifacts got here to life one evening?” It was a notion at the back of my head. I by no means dreamt it would flip into actual film! Anyway, I must say – this film had me on the edge of my seat. Not only was it suspenseful, creepy, eerie, darkish, and twisted; it introduced me and the franchise to new, sinister demons! The Bride demon scared me the most. She jogged my memory of Valak from The Nun, however in a marriage dress. Gary Dauberman really did an excellent job for his directorial debut and he did an amazing job with the “soar scare” restraints. He added quite a lot of pressure and build up when it came to the scary parts. He didn’t resort to cheap, uninspired jump scares nor did he must depend on them to make this film effective! I additionally liked the looks of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, which was the “cherry on the top” of an amazing horror film. Even when their appearances were limited, their characters are still as strong as ever and their chemistry continues to shine. General, I actually enjoyed Annabelle Comes Residence and I think it’s THE BEST installment in the ‘Annabelle’ trilogy. The performing was nice, the setting and ambiance was perfect, the characters had been very likable, the scares have been very unique and creative, it had its sad and emotional moments, the various demons had been completely creepy and had their own traits, and it was stuffed with suspense and dread. I particularly love how they devoted the film to Lorraine Warren during the end credit, who sadly passed away again in April. It is a true disgrace she didn’t get to see this fascinating installment in a movie sequence that wouldn’t exist if it hadn’t been for her and Ed. Annabelle Comes Dwelling was a nicely-wanted installment in The Conjuring Universe and I extremely recommend it. It’s totally different from the others. I give it a 10/10 and five stars!
